Media and Files

If you upload media (images) and/or files (for example, if you submit a resource or a unit plan), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included, and you should carefully review which metadata (author name and organization) might be included in the files. Members who download files from the member-only area of the website may be able to access and extract any metadata from images and files you provided.

Cookies

If you visit our login page to access the member area, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

What data we collect

If you sign up to become an ATEQ member, our form will collect your name and contact information for billing purposes. In addition, there is an optional form where you can provide more information about your professional status (teacher or student teacher, school board and name of school, teaching level, expected graduation date if student teacher). We also collect your email address to send you occasional updates on behalf of the ATEQ.

In addition, we use an open-source software called Matomo to collect website analytics: this tool allows us to get an approximate number of visitors and page views on the different sections of our website. Matomo may collect an anonymized version of your IP address (only the first half), your general location, as well as some general information about your device (operating system, screen size, browser). This data is not shared with any third-parties and is used to further improve our website.

How long we retain your data

For users that register to the member area on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile for the duration of their use of the member area. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have submitted content, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Form submissions (such as nominations for our awards, and submissions for resources and unit plans) may be checked through an automated spam detection service.


Refund Policy

Overview

Our refund policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have passed since your purchase, we can’t offer you a full refund.

Refunds

If you purchased a product on the ATEQ store (annual membership fee, event registration fee) and need to request a refund (for example if you accidentally purchased a product twice, or if you purchased the product and it was also gifted by a third-party), please contact us by email at info@ateq.org and we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days. A percentage of the original amount may be kept to cover the transaction fees.

Late or missing refunds

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.

Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.

Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact us at {email address}.

Sale items

Only regular priced items may be refunded. Sale items cannot be refunded.
